HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE SAFARI IN KENYA & TANZANIA

CLEAN COOKSTOVE PROJECT TALK
Enjoy an extended experience at a Masai village. Meet some of the incredible women who live here and learn how their lives have been impacted and their communities empowered through the G Adventures-supported Masai Clean Cookstoves Project.

NGORONGORO CRATER WILDLIFE SAFARI DRIVE
Spot zebra, gazelles, buffaloes, and warthogs. The swamp and forest are home to hippos, rhinos, elephants, baboons, and monkeys. Keep your eyes peeled and camera ready to capture a pride of lions or a lone leopard walking along the crater floor.

SERENGETI WILDLIFE RESEARCH CENTRE LECTURE
Set in Serengeti National Park, the Serengeti Wildlife Research Centre is a base for many of the region’s top wildlife researchers and scientists. Meet one of its researchers for a talk about the centre’s ongoing studies.

AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
Amboseli National Park is a true photographer’s paradise. The snow-covered peak of Mt Kilimanjaro forms a majestic backdrop for one of Kenya’s most spectacular displays of wildlife. Despite its small size (392 sq km/151 sq mi) and fragile ecosystem, the park supports a wide range of mammals (50-plus species of large animals) and birds (more than 400 species). Join a safari in search of elephants, lions, rhino, cheetah and, of course, the photo of a lifetime.

MASAI MARA
Masai Mara is Kenya's most famous wildlife reserve, nestled within the enormous Great Rift Valley. Named for the Masai tribe and the Mara River, it is known for its Great Migration of millions of wildebeest, along with zebra and gazelle; one of the most impressive natural events worldwide. There are plenty of other animals to be seen, including lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, ostriches, and many others.

NAIROBI
This busy metropolis and capital city has an intoxicating mix of African and Indian culture, which are both well-represented in the local cuisine. Enjoy artsy cafes with a cup of famous Kenyan coffee, and bring your dancing shoes -- Nairobi has a fantastic nightlife. For a taste of history and archaeology, visit the National Museum, home to most of the great prehistoric finds made by the famous Leakey family.

ABOUT NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC JOURNEYS WITH G ADVENTURES

G Adventures is one of the world’s largest and most sustainable small group adventure tour operators. In 2019, they launched a program called Ripple Scores, allowing you to see the percentage of local businesses and services used in the creation of each and every one of their trips. The higher the Ripple Score, the more money stays within the local community.

In addition to numerous awards celebrating their sustainability initiatives in the tourism industry, they’ve also been recognized by world-class organizations such as National Geographic and the Jane Goodall Institute. In 2016, G Adventures launched a partnership with National Geographic by offering a travel style called National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures. These tours offer travellers opportunities to get closer to local communities, connecting you to local cultures, and which provide a greater emphasis on education and conservation. In 2017, G Adventures’ animal welfare policy was officially endorsed by the Jane Goodall Institute.

Through their non-profit arm, Planeterra, G Adventures connects social enterprises to the tourism marketplace. They do so by providing catalyst funding, capacity training and a market link for small businesses that support local and indigenous communities, women, youth, and the environment. Planeterra now supports over 50 social enterprises in over 40 different countries.
