Day 1 – Arrival in Havana
Your Cuba by bus tour starts in Havana. If you arrive in Varadero airport, a one-and-a-half hour drive will get you to Havana. You will be warmly welcomed by the owners of your casa particular.
Day 2 – Havana
In the morning, you will go on a walking tour of Havana’s highlights with a local guide. The old city is a wonder of colonial architecture. On one of the many squares you can enjoy live music.
Day 3 – Havana
Opt to visit the Old Spanish Fort, Plaza de la Revolución and the Capitolio. You can also go for a bike ride or take a salsa class! Then drink a Cuban mojito at La Floridita where Ernest Hemingway used to frequent. You can also go on an optional excursion and explore the city in a classic American Old Timer.
Day 4 – Havana to Viñales
A trip through the province of Piñar del Rio takes you from Havana through the Sierra del Rosario mountain area to Viñales, the centre of Cuba’s famous cigar industry.
Day 5 – Viñales, walk along tobacco fields
Today you will walk along the tobacco fields accompanied by a local guide.
Day 6 – Viñales to Cienfuegos
The journey from Viñales to Cienfuegos takes about 8 hours. It’s handy to keep the afternoon free so that you can relax and recover after the long ride.
Day 7 – Cienfuegos
Take a walk past the historic buildings in the central square, or stroll along the boulevard by the tropical bay where the evenings are bustling.
Day 8 – Cienfuegos to Trinidad
Today you will travel to Trinidad, one of the oldest and most atmospheric cities of Cuba. The city has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The centre is full of pastel-coloured colonial houses.
Day 9 – Trinidad tour by Bici taxi
Today you will take a bike ride through the city in a Bici taxi. This alternative route through Trinidad is a nice addition to the well-known attractions and gives a more complete picture of Cuban life in this charming city.
Day 10 – Trinidad
Wander through the streets of Trinidad. Everywhere you go, you come across houses with gardens full of flowers. Pay a visit to the cathedral on the main square and enjoy the local artists playing live music in one of the restaurants. Or visit the Museo Romántico. The museum gives a good impression of the wealth of the sugar barons of that era.
Day 11 – Trinidad to Santa Clara
You can still wander around Trinidad in the morning, as the bus to Santa Clara leaves at three o’clock. After a drive of just over 3 hours, you’ll arrive in Santa Clara where you will be welcomed in your casa particular.
Day 12 – Santa Clara to Varadero
Explore Santa Clara, the city of Ché Guevara, on your own. On the outskirts of the city stands a statue in memory of Ché as well as a mausoleum and a museum that is fully dedicated Ché Guevara’s life. Then it’s time to travel to Varadero and enjoy the beach life.
Day 13 – Varadero
Varadero sits on a peninsula and the 21 km long beach of fine white sand is the ideal vacation spot for sunbathers and water sports enthusiasts.
Day 14 – Varadero
Opt to visit a number of attractions nearby. The Cuevas de Saturno cave is the perfect spot for swimming, diving or snorkeling. We also recommend a visit to Parque Josone: an open, green oasis in the middle of the thin peninsula.
Day 15 – Return home
Your Cuba by bus tour has sadly come to an end. It’s time to say goodbye.
