Day 1 – Arrival in Varadero/Havana – To Havana
After arriving in Varadero or Havana you will be picked up by a driver who will bring you to your accommodation in Havana. Welcome to Cuba!
Day 2 – Havana
Go on an hour-long tour of Havana in the morning in a vintage car. Walk with a local guide through the most beautiful and intriguing places of the city and marvel at colonial architecture. Squares are graced by palm trees and terraces, fragrant incense fills the colonial churches, the local cafés have live trumpet music playing and rum is flowing everywhere you look.
In the afternoon you can pay a visit to the Old Spanish Fort, Plaza de la Revolución and the Capitolio.
Day 3 – Day excursion to Viñales, by way of Soroa and Las Terrazzas
Today you will visit Viñales, the centre of Cuba’s famed cigar industry. A short drive through the beautiful landscapes of the Piñar del Rio province will take you to Soroa, located in the beautiful Sierra del Rosario mountain range. You can also make a stopover in Las Terrazas, a protected nature reserve. Viñales is located in a green valley where numerous limestone rocks (‘mojotes’) complete the rugged character of the landscape. You will walk along the tobacco fields accompanied by a local guide.
Day 4 – Havana to Playa Girón
You will trade in the green valleys of Viñales for the white sandy beaches of Playa Girón. The vegetation stops at the sea which gives it a distinct look, especially with the contrast between the blue water and the red sand. Here you can go diving, take boat trips and do water sport activities.
Day 5 – Playa Girón
Explore the world famous Bay of Pigs that forms part of Playa Girón. The underwater world with its colourful coral reef is worth a visit. You can also explore the Museo Girón at Playa Girón. This museum is dedicated to telling the story of the Bay of Pigs Invasion in 1961.
Day 6 – Playa Girón to Trinidad
Continue your travels to Trinidad, one of Cuba’s most charming cities, and a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site. The city centre has remained largely unchanged since colonial times, and still consists of quiet cobbled streets and green, blue, yellow and terracotta painted houses.
Day 7 – Trinidad tour by Bici Taxi
Go on a bike ride through the city today in a Bici Taxi. This alternative route through Trinidad is a nice addition to the well-known attractions and gives a fuller picture of life in Cuba.
Day 8 – Trinidad
Colonial Trinidad will exceed all your expectations. Visit the cathedral on the main square and then sit at a table in the Casa de la Trova where local artists play live music.
Day 9 – Trinidad to Varadero, by way of Santa Clara
Today you’ll travel to the beach of Varadero by way of Santa Clara. In 1958 Ché Guevara defeated Batista’s army in Santa Clara. On the outskirts of the city you will find the statue commemorating Ché. You can also find the mausoleum and a museum that is fully dedicated Ché Guevara’s life.
Day 10 – Varadero
Varadero sits on a peninsula and the 21 km long beach of fine white sand is the ideal vacation spot for sunbathers and water sports enthusiasts. Your casa particular is just 100-200 meters walking distance from the beach.
Day 11 – Varadero
Today you have another day of relaxing on the beach. You can also visit a number of attractions nearby. The Cuevas de Saturno cave is the perfect spot for swimming, diving or snorkeling. We also recommend a visit to Parque Josone: an open, green oasis in the middle of the narrow peninsula.
Day 12 – Return home
Your Best of Cuba tour has sadly come to an end. It’s time to say goodbye.
