Day 1 – Arrival in Buenos Aires
Our transfer service will meet you at the airport and accompany you to your hotel. Arrive early to explore the streets of Buenos Aires and familiarize yourself with this bustling metropolis. Or if you are looking for some culture, take a look at the program of the ‘Teatro Colón’.
Day 2 – Buenos Aires: City Tour and Tango
Enjoy the highlights of one of South America’s most charming cities. Opt to watch dancers perform tango in the streets of the colourful neighbourhood La Boca, admire the governmental palace La Casa Rosada (“The Pink House”) on Plaza de Mayo, or enjoy the bohemian atmosphere and antique shops of cobblestoned San Telmo.
In the evening, opt to take a tango class and learn all about the traditions and rules of the Milonga (the local tango dance saloon) while trying out your newly acquired skills on the dance floor.
Day 3 – Buenos Aires
Enjoy a day at leisure in Buenos Aires. Opt to visit the Cemetery of Recoleta where the tomb of Evita Peron can be found, stroll around the neighbourhood Palermo with its many shops and restaurants, visit the Colon Theatre or one of the many museums the city has to offer.
Day 4 – Buenos Aires to Iguazú Falls
Transfer to the airport, where you will board a flight to Puerto Iguazú. Visit the Brazilian side of Iguazú Falls in the afternoon and enjoy a complete panorama of the 275 falls that plunge into the depth spanning almost 3 kilometres (or 1.24 miles).
Day 5 – Iguazú Falls
Get close to the falls as you wander around the Argentinean side of Iguazú Falls. Stand just a few meters away from the “Garganta del Diablo” (Devil’s Throat) and witness the falls plunge into a depth of 84 meters (276 feet). Opt to take a boat tour that brings you extremely close to the water falls.
Day 6 – Iguazú Falls to Salta
Transfer to the airport and catch an 8 hour flight to Salta.
Day 7 – Salta
Opt to walk by old colonial buildings and beautiful churches, or opt to visit the MAAM Archaeological Museum with its impressive collection of artifacts from the pre-Colombian era. Later that afternoon, opt to visit San Bernardo Hill by cable car to get a spectacular view of the city and the surrounding mountains.
Day 8 – Salta to Cachi
Pick up your rental car and start your self-drive to Cachi. During the drive, you will reach a height of 3,348 metres (10,984 feet) above sea-level. Be amazed by one of the most beautiful parts of the route known as the “Recta de Tintin”; a straight road surrounded by huge Cardon cactuses.
Day 9 – Cachi to Cafayate
Drive from Cachi to Cafayate through a colourful, constantly changing landscape. Enjoy the wonders of nature such as the “Quebrada de las Flechas” (Canyon of Arrows).
Day 10 – Cafayate
Cafayate is the wine capital of the region. Opt to take a tour of a bodega, try the white Torrontes wine, and learn about the characteristics of the highest wine region of the world. Drive through the “Valles Calchaquíes” (Calchaquíes Valleys), or visit the ruins of Quilmes, one of the most important archaeological sites of the country.
Day 11 – Cafayate to Purmamarca
Drive through the ‘Quebrada de Cafayate’, a UNESCO World Heritage site and known as Argentina’s Grand Canyon.
Day 12 – Purmamarca to Salinas Grandes
Drive to the salt plains of Salta and Jujuy. You’ll be able to spot Salinas Grandes from a distance. The other-worldly whiteness of the plains stands in stark contrast to the colour of the surrounding area.
Day 13 – Salinas Grandes to Humahuaca
Opt to visit the small villages of the “Quebrada de Humahuaca” before heading back to Buenos Aires.
Day 14 – Humahuaca to Salta and Buenos Aires
Drive back to Salta and drop off the car at the airport of Salta before taking a flight back to Buenos Aires.
Day 15 – Departure from Buenos Aires/ Return home
Your journey through the highlights of Argentina comes to an end. A transfer will be organized from your hotel to Buenos Aires airport.
